We contributed our expertise to improve the local Hamilton environment by utilizing slope stabilization methods, leachate collection systems and a barrier wall along the length of the existing Upper Ottawa landfill site (760 metres) that was starting to deteriorate. These methods were implemented to prevent damage to the important ecosystem which surrounds the old landfill site. This highly sensitive area is the natural habitat for various species including red foxes, pheasants, white-tailed deer, weasels, rabbits, ground hogs, muskrats, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, field mice, song birds and raptors - a rare glimpse into a little known Hamilton wilderness.
